HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR BUOYANCY AID
A buoyancy aid must be comfortable and provide you with maximum buoyancy, and therefore safety, in case of capsizing. Several criteria must be taken into account: your weight, the context of use, and the activity itself.
Your weight: Each vest size is assigned an inherent buoyancy in Newtons. If you weigh 60 kg, a size M vest with 50 Newtons of buoyancy is suitable for you. If you weigh 100 kg and by chance manage to put on a size M vest with 50 Newtons of buoyancy, the vest will be of no help to you, providing no buoyancy.
Context of use: For professional rental companies and clubs, vests with buoyancy superior to the standard are required. The RAPID or MAYA vests are the type of vests used by these organizations. In addition to superior buoyancy, they are also reinforced at the seams, thus meeting the demands of intensive use.
The activity: A good vest is one you don’t feel, one that becomes one with you. Depending on the activities undertaken, the choice of vest can prove crucial. The JADE is, for example, ideal for SUP practice. Its slim design does not hinder getting back on the board, and the crotch strap prevents the vest from riding up. The FOXE perfectly conforms to the paddler’s body and ensures excellent buoyancy for whitewater and sea paddlers.
